IES Modern Language Song Competition
The yearly event organized by the department of Modern Languages is the singing competition for songs in Spanish and French only.
This year, the competition will take place on April the 23rd in the school auditorium. The competition is open for all year groups and there are still some places available.
The two winners (one for Spanish and one for French) will represent our school at the BIG IES final in Eskilstuna week 17 with competitors from various IES schools (Eskilstuna, Enskede, Bromma, Linköping, Örebro , etc…)
Lots of Grammar in Spanish
Year 6
Students have been learning words for food, numbers (21-31) and the expressions related to talking about a person’s birthday.
Year 7
Students have been working with the Present Tense of regular verbs and they’ve been reading/ writing/ talking about activities in their spare time.
Year 8
Students have just finished a project on Spanish-speaking countries. After learning the appropriate vocabulary and structure for the task, they did some research based on a guide we came up with together, and afterwards they did oral presentations in Spanish for the whole class.
Year 9
Students have been learning Reflexive Verbs. These plus the corresponding vocabulary and structures , they have used on a written project to describe a day in their lives.

Year 9
The weeks before the break we have been working on Opinions, Central America, Music and some Grammar.
Year 8
The students have learnt different things the past weeks, including, Mexico and food, and some about the Spanish speaking countries.
Year 7
With year 7 in Spanish we have focused on some repetition of areas from year 6, clothes, colours, presentation and writing letters.
Year 6
The year six students have been very into the classroom vocabulary, they have also learned the Spanish alphabet , the weekdays and describe their class.
Spanish - Summer Holidays and Grammar
Year 6
In Year 6 we are working with our book Tapas. The student have learnt the numbers 0-13, greetings, how to say their name, age and phone number and also how to ask another person about their name, age and phone number. At the moment they are learning about “the family” so they will be able to tell a little bit more about themselves and their family.
Year 7
In Year 7 we have mostly been working with rehearsal from Year 6, like the numbers, greetings, presentation, colors, clothes, articles etc. The students have also been working with the clock and verbs.
Year 8
In Year 8 we have been doing some rehearsal from Year 7 like, verbs, weather, vocabulary etc. They have also learnt some new grammar and been writing different tasks (about a person, their weekend, their summer holidays). At the moment we are working with México which will result in a written or oral production.
Year 9
In Year 9 we have been working with the summer holidays. The students have orally or in writing told the class about their summer. Right now we are working with the theme “Ghosts” and all groups have had a written task.
