How to get at lightbulb or propeller to work

The fourth graders have been experiementing with and learning about electricity in science. They have designed a model of something that uses a lightbulb or a propeller or both. They had to draw a diagram of how to connect the circuit and then be able to troubleshoot what could go wrong if the circuit does not work.

They had lots of fun working on this project and they sure have a working knowledge of how to connect working circuits!

Craft in The Junior School

Year 4 Craft

In year 4 Craft this term pupils have been making:

Photo Frames

These have been made from plywood and all pupils have used a mitre saw to cut the angled joint of the frame. They have then set in the acrylic plastic ‘pane’ and decorated the frames to be really eyecatching

Recycled T-shirts

Pupils have taken an old T – shirt and then ´recycled it’ by either sewing  (by hand and using sewing machines) fabric to it, or by taking the ‘recycling’ theme a step further by actually sewing recycled items (bottle caps, old jeans, CDs, newspapers) to the T shirt to create something really original

Year 5 Craft

In year 5 Craft this term pupils have been making:

Jewellery

Pupils made a piece of jewellery by forming a piece of modeling clay into the shape that they wanted. They then set this in plaster, removed the clay once the plaster was dry and then poured in hot metal. They then smoothed down the jewellery, polished and painted ti to look really professional

Sweden Jigsaws

Pupils also made ‘Sweden Themed Jigsaws’ that could go on sale in a tourist shop in Stockholm. They laminated a Sweden based colour image, glued this to a piece of MDF and then used hand and electric saws to cut it into the pieces of the jigsaw. They also made a frame for the jigsaw to sit in out of card.
