IESG - Senior School, Math Olympics

On June 3rd, the Mathematics Department organized “Math Olympics” for the year 8 classes, who all sent a team of selected students to fight for glory and knowledge. The Math Olympics require multiple intelligences:  logical, linguistic, intrapersonal, interpersonal, kinesthetic , and spatial intelligence.  All our teams showed a deep intelligence in each.

The day began with 8E making a strong quick strike off the gate and scoring an average of 4 more points per student than those classes in second in the individual overall assessment.

The middle of the race saw 8B using team work to overcome their slow start by scoring 5 more points than the second place team during the team story problem speed and ability contest.

The relay race had two different winners.  The winner for mathematical knowledge was 8D with 2 more correct than second place 8E.  However 8B was as fast as the wind and won the last 5 relays with their blazing speed.

Overall it was a strong showing by each class but in every contest there must be a winner and this year’s Math Olympic winners are 8B with their consistent abilities in all intelligences.

Congratulations to the contestants, who all did a magnificent job!
